Parents Upset Following School Lockdown

South Lincoln Elementary School parents upset after receiving text about a lock down at the school Wednesday.

Parents of students at South Lincoln Elementary School are understandably upset following a lock down at the school Wednesday. Some of these same parents took to social media to voice their concerns saying that school officials would only say a threat was made at the school and no one was ever in any danger. It didn’t help that this came at the same time of a school shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Last night I finally found a knowledgeable source who spoke on condition of anonymity due to Federal privacy laws. A child at the school made a reference to an on line game that caused school officials to initiate their protocols for potential threats. School Resource Officers initiated their protocol for such events and additional Law enforcement resources were called. My source confirmed that absolutely at no time were any students or facility at the school in any danger, no weapons were found on campus and the lock down was a precaution. Law enforcement continues to investigate this matter.  Unfortunately, there has been a trend over the last couple of years on social media where children are “challenged” to attempt certain acts, most are dangerous and some are illegal. Parents are encouraged to carefully monitor their child’s internet useage and explain the dangers and ramifications of participating in these challenge games. My source did not know the nature of the on-line game this student was talking about that prompted the South Lincoln lock down.
