City and County leaders met Monday to discuss the feral cat problem.
City and county officials met yesterday to discuss the feral cat problem in Fayetteville. Several colonies of feral cats are causing problems for residents. In the informal meeting today officials discussed possible solutions to the problems and the money need to deal with it. Although no final decisions have been made the so-called TNR solution appears to be at the top of the list. Trap-Neuter-Return is successfully practiced in hundreds of communities and in every landscape and setting. It is exactly what it sounds like: Cats are humanely trapped and taken to a veterinarian to be neutered and vaccinated. After recovery, the cats are returned to their home, their colony outdoors. Kittens and cats who are friendly and socialized to people may be adopted into homes. The committee plans to explores the cost for a local vet to do the procedures then determine how to fund the project.
