If you like Hummingbirds, you may start seeing more of those zippy little birds. The 2025 annual migration is starting and the little winged darts will be searching out your feeder to pack on some extra weight for their long, non-stop flight across the Gulf of America, a distance of nearly 500 miles and even under favorable condition could take them up to 20 hours to make the journey. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in a prepared statement said the most common hummingbird in Tennessee is the Ruby-Throated hummingbird. The National Audubon Society said that while native flowering plants are the best source of food for the birds, this time of year, when flower are beginning to die out your well-maintained sugar-water feeder can provide the additional sustenance the birds need during migration and also during their nesting period.
