An Early Morning Pursuit Ends in Lincoln County

A chase that started in Winchester ended just inside Lincoln County.

A 48-year-old man is in the Franklin County jail after leading law enforcement officers on a chase that ended in Lincoln County. Franklin County Sheriff Tim Fuller said Winchester Police tried to stop Benjamin Stewart about 4 o’clock this (Wednesday) morning on suspicion of DUI. Stewart fled and Franklin County deputies joined in the chase. As they approached the county line Lincoln County deputies were notified and assisted in stopping Stewart on or near County Line Road. Stewart was booked into the Franklin County jail on charges of reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, felony evading and other charges.
