A fire at a home in Petersburg Saturday afternoon caused moderate damage.
Lincoln County volunteer firefightersn responded to a structure fire Saturday. Lincoln County Fire Chief and EMA Director Doug Campbell said firefighters responded to the 100 block of Fuss Hollow Road in Petersburg about 4:30 Saturday afternoon. Campbell said a quick response resulted in a quick knock down and contained the fire to the room of origin. There was smoke damage to adjoining rooms but no major structural damage was reported. The cause of the fire was believed to be electrical as a space heater was plugged into an extension cord. Campbell advised our listeners to be extra cautious with any secondary het sources like portable heaters with the colder weather we are having. Be sure and keep them at least three feet away from any flammable material and turn off when unattended.
