Franklin County Deputies are working to notify next of kin after a man drowned about 3:30 Sunday afternoon in Tim’s Ford Lake. Sheriff Tim Fuller said witnesses told investigators with his department and the TWRA that a man tied his boat to a dock at Devils Step and back his vehicle and trailer down the ramp. As he positioned the trailer in the water he noticed the boat had come loose and drifted away from the dock. The man attempted to swim out to the boat but could not make it and could not maker it back to shore. The severe weather last night caused search and recovery efforts to be suspended. Monday divers successfully recovered the body of the man about 11:30 AM. Investigators are still trying to notify next of kin and therefore have not released the man’s name.
