Inmates from the Giles County Jail are working to clean up downed trees and debris caused by recent storms at Noblit Cemetery in Minor Hill. Several trees had fallen and the inmates cut them and repurposed the wood into firewood. The sheriff’s office plans to expand this program by continuing to utilize suitable downed trees to produce firewood for families in need, helping provide heat next winter. In a social media post Sheriff Pervis said, “I want the community to know that the inmates on this work crew volunteered for this work assignment, and they were all proud to give back to the community.”
