Kim Albright Local News Director
Kim's broadcast career began in high school. His first days on the air as a part time announcer at WJBY in Gadsden, Alabama shaped his entire future in broadcasting. A small tornado ripped through downtown less than 2 blocks from the studio. Kim figured out how to get the owner on the air from his two way radio in his car so he could do live reports. From then on Kim was hooked on news, especially spot news.
Kim majored in radio and television broadcasting at Gadsden State Junior college. He worked part time for Teleprompter Cable TV in their Local Origination Department , doing live shows, running camera and using a one-inch reel to reel video recorder to gather local news. Kim's first professional broadcasting job after college was at WCNA in Scottsboro, Alabama as a DJ on the 6 till midnight shift.
Kim's TV news career started in 1985 as the Spot News reporter for WAAY-TV Channel 31 in Huntsville, Alabama. After almost 14 years with the station, in 1999, the owner sold the station and the new owners downsized over 60 employees including Kim.
Kim moved across town to WAFF-TV Channel 48 as Assignment Desk Manage for a brief stint. Then once again, he pursued a different field, using his experience climbing towers and doing electronics work, he went to work for a sign company in Tullahoma, Tennessee for 13 years.
Several medical issues forced Kim into a brief retirement but in December, 2024, longtime friend and associate John Malone called to say he wanted to start a local news department for his Fayetteville, Tennessee radio stations. Kim was offered a job as News Director and jumped at the opportunity. Kim is proud to be providing up to the minute local news for Fayetteville, Lincoln County and southern middle Tennessee.
